Lincoln student experiences medical emergency on school bus
Lincoln Co. Schools News release
STANFORD, KY – Lincoln County School’s bus number 175, driven by Johnny Terry, had a student on board experience a medical emergency this morning on KY Hwy 78 near the Stanford Drive-In en route to the Lincoln County Middle School/High School main campus in Stanford.
The bus driver quickly determined the student was experiencing a medical emergency and found a place to stop the school bus in a safe location. A call was made to 911 immediately. Several district staff members heard the emergency reported on the bus radio and responded to the scene as well.
The student was removed from the bus via emergency first responders and sent for further evaluation and treatment.
Lincoln County Schools Transportation Director Don Leigh was pleased with the swift response from staff.
“Hustonville buses driven by JoLynn Barnett and Bill Couch stopped to pick up the other student passengers and transport them on to school,” Leigh said. “This type of event occurs from time to time and all personnel are trained to react and respond in the way that they did today to ensure all students are kept safe.”
LCHS Assistant Principal Kyle French and Garage Manager Larry Carrier also arrived on scene to assist and supervise.
