Robert Haley Conway, Democratic candidate for Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner, met with Lincoln County constituents at a meet and greet held at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant in Stanford Thursday.

Conway, a Scott County farmer who has campaigned for increased hemp production and the legalization of medical marijuana, defeated Glasgow cattle farmer Joe Trigg to win the Democratic primary.

Conway is looking to unseat Republican incumbent Ryan Quarles. Quarles, also a Scott County farmer, took the Republican nomination against opponent Bill Polyniak.

Michael Broihier, a Lincoln County farmer and Democratic primary candidate for the U.S. Senate, was also in attendance at the meet and greet and handled the introduction of Conway to the audience.

Broihier is looking to unseat Mitch McConnell in the 2020 election.

The 2019 general election is Nov. 5.
