Ottenheim will be celebrating 135 years of community, heritage and history on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Events will be held at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 100 KY Hwy. 1948 in Ottenheim (Waynesburg) and the Immanuel Lutheran Church (historical building), 4110 KY Hwy. 643, also in Ottenheim (Waynesburg).
Events for the day include:
•Antique tractors, trucks, old machinery and cars exhibition. Call Mike Link at (413) 214-5834 if you would like to show.
•Dress in your German-Swiss outfit, if you like!
•Gristmill grinding cornmeal.
•Immanuel Church tours – ride over in antique cars with the Godbey brothers.
•Genealogy and history display.
•Food sales by Sylvester Catholic Church.
•Dedication of the new pavilion at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 11 a.m.
•History talk about Ottenheim at the Lutheran Pavilion at 11:30 a.m.
•Jereme Zimmerman demonstration of Make Mead like a Viking at 12:30 p.m.
•Wiener Schnitzel from Lexington playing German music from 12 to 2 p.m.
•Charity Auction from 2 to 4 p.m. (If you would like to donate auction items, not yard sale, call for pickup – Jerry Zwahlen at (606) 669-9855, Barbara Bastin at (606) 365-7339 or Eunice Schlappi at (502) 545-0809.
•Booths – Amish fried pies and more, Immanuel Church; St. Sylvester Church – baked goods, Make Mead like a Viking, Lilla Rosa Hair Jewelry, Photography and Jewelry by Barbara Ann Bastin, Little Swede Pottery and more…..
If you would like a booth, call Jerry Zwahlen at (606) 669-9855, Barbara Bastin at (606) 365-7339 or Eunice Schlappi at (502) 545-0809 for an application. Fee for booth is $25 (no electricity). Bring your own tent, table and chairs.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit both Immanuel Lutheran Church maintenance fund and St. Sylvester Catholic Church building fund. Proceeds from the food sale goes only to St. Sylvester building fund.
