Siege of 1777 at Logan’s Fort set for May 17-18

Step back in time to help commemorate the 242nd anniversary of the Siege of 1777 at Logan’s Fort. The Fort will serve as the backdrop for a special dusk battle at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 17 and a reenactment of the siege at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18. Join us for living history demonstrations, a frontier era merchant’s village, as well as settler and Native American encampments. There will also be speakers, food vendors, tractor/horse and wagon rides. Admission to the park on Friday and Saturday is $5, 12 and under are free. A bird viewing will be held at the William Whitley House on Saturday, May 11 starting at 9 a.m. Meet at the pavilion. Bring binoculars and wear comfortable shoes.

Cedar Creek Quail Club to hold annual banquet

Cedar Creek Quail Club will hold its annual banquet on Saturday, May 4 at the Cedar Creek Clubhouse six miles east of Stanford on Hwy. 150. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The meal will consist of quail, chicken, vegetables, drinks and desserts. The banquet is open to the public. Cost is $10 per person with children age five and under free. Tickets will be available at the door. There will be door prizes, a silent auction, live auction and raffle tickets. Bring the entire family and your neighbors too.

Crab Orchard Spring Cleanup Days!

The City of Crab Orchard will have Spring Clean-Up Days for residents within city limits. Limit One Load Per Customer. It will be held on Monday and Tuesday, May 6 and 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Two dumpsters will be located behind City Hall and all items with the exception of tires, appliances, batteries, paint cans, hazardous waste products, or dead animals will be accepted.

Crab Orchard Spring City Wide Yard Sale

The City of Crab Orchard will have its annual Spring City Wide Yard Sale on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, May 2, 3 and 4. No Yard Sale Permits will be required for these days.

Chicken or Ham Supper and Auction

The Butchertown Community Center will hold a chicken or ham supper and auction on Saturday, May 4 starting at 6 p.m. Adult meals are $6 and children’s meals are $4 (chicken/ham, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, roll, dessert and drink). All proceeds benefit the Community Center.

National Nurses Week

Lincoln County Nurses are invited to celebrate National Nurses Week at the Nightingale Chapter Kentucky Nurses Association meeting on May 9. One free contact hour will be awarded for attendance at our presentation “Family Presence During Cardiovascular Resuscitation”. Join us in the McDowell Room, Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville, at 6:30 p.m. Bring a canned good for our food drive. LCHS SBDM accepting nominations

Lincoln County High School Site-Based Decision Making Council is accepting nominations for parent representatives until Friday, May 10. SBDM elections will be held Friday, May 17 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If you would like to nominate yourself or a candidate, come by the LCHS front desk and complete a form by 3:30 p.m. on May 10. Any parent with a child attending LCHS during the 2019-2020 school year is eligible unless they are an employee or relative of an employee of LCHS, district office or board member. Representatives must complete a background check, registry check, complete the school council member training session and attend monthly meetings held every third Tuesday from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Habitat for Humanity Yard Sale/Auction

Lincoln County Habitat for Humanity will hold a yard sale and auction on Friday, May 3 at the Habitat Building located at the bottom of Halls Gap. The yard sale will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other items will be sold at the auction that will start at 6 p.m. (doors will open at 4 p.m.). General merchandise. Wilderness Trace Chapter KFTC to meet

Wilderness Trace Chapter of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth will meet Monday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at Inter-County Energy Community Room, 1009 Hustonville Road, Danville (the Community Room entrance is on the left side of the Inter-County building.

Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center Prom Fundraiser

The Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center will host its second annual Senior Prom fundraiser on Friday, May 31, from 5 to 9 p.m. at 100 Senior Way. The theme is “GREAT GATSBY” style. You do not have to be a senior citizen to attend. Grab some friends and reminisce your senior prom! Tickets are $20 per person and will include a catered meal, silent auction ticket, dancing, DJ, and door prizes. Tickets are available for purchase at the center as presale only. Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Lincoln County 4-H presents a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on Saturday, May 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. Open to everyone. Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Register online at bit.ly/4-HTea. Yarn, Hook & Needles Group

Do you enjoy crafting with yarn, crochet hooks and/or knitting needles? Have interest or want to learn. This free group is for you. The group meets the first Monday of the month from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension office. The next meeting will be May 6.

4-H Summer Camp

Register now for 4-H Summer Camp which is set for July 8-12 at the J. M. Feltner Camp in London. The theme for the week is Jungle Safari. Cost is $250 and includes lodging, meals, snacks, t-shirt, activities and class fees. Final deadline is June 3. Space is limited. First come, first served. For more information, call (606) 365-2447.

Hooves of Hope golf scramble

Hooves of Hope Equestrian Center will be hosting its second annual Golf Scramble at Old Bridge Golf Club Saturday, June 1 starting at 9 a.m. If you are interested in participating, please contact Rhonda Bullock via email at rhonda.hoovesofhope@aol.com or via phone at (859) 792-8938. All proceeds will go toward our Operation Hope: Veterans Program and our At-Risk-Youth Program. Hooves of Hope is a non-profit organization that provides children and adults, with diverse needs, a solid foundation for developing life skills through equine assisted activities and therapies, in a safe and caring environment.

Crab Orchard Community Garden
A Crab Orchard Community Garden, sponsored by the Lincoln County 4-H, is free to residents and children. Grow food and share with your neighbors. Supplies provided. Meet at the city park in Crab Orchard the first Friday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m. For more information, call (606) 365-2447.

Girls Who Code Clubs

Girls Who Code Club for grades 3-5 and 6-12 meet at Lincoln County Public Library. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 7. Child Development Services for children

The Lincoln County Early Childhood program offers child development services to eligible infants and toddlers and their families through Early Head Start, which was recently recognized with a level 5 Kentucky All STARS Rating, the highest level in the state’s quality rating system. Early Head Start enhances children’s physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development. Early Head Start classrooms are located at the Stanford Early Childhood Center at Stanford Elementary. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings

The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.
