Lincoln County will hold its annual celebration honoring civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on his observed birthday.

On Monday, Jan. 21, the world will honor what would have been King’s 90th birthday, and downtown Stanford will be the site of one of the thousands of celebrations observed. King was born on Jan. 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The local ceremony will begin at noon at the Lincoln County Courthouse and will be followed by a march to First Missionary Baptist Church on Martin Luther King Street.
