Jess Correll of Stanford, a founding member of First Southern National Bank, is one of four people who are a part of the ninth annual class of the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame.
Correll, who bought his first bank in 1982 at the age of 26, will be honored along with the other inductees on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa in Lexington.
Correll has served as President and Chairman of First Southern Bancorp since 1987. He is Chairman of the Board and CEO of UTG, Inc. and also serves on the boards of Friends of the Good Samaritans in India, National Christian Foundation, The River Foundation and the Centre College Board of Trustees.
Other members of the ninth annual hall of fame class are:
Don Ball – founder of Ball Homes
Joe Craft – president and CEO of Alliance Resource Partners, L.P.
Jim Headlee – founder and CEO of Summit Energy Services
The Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame celebrates the stories of Kentucky’s most successful entrepreneurs, with a mission to raise awareness around the impact entrepreneurship has made in the Commonwealth and to encourage others to pursue similar ambitious endeavors.
Inductees were selected based on a variety of attributes including revenue and profit growth, entrepreneur activity or visibility, innovativeness of product or service offered, contributions to community-oriented projects and society, creating jobs, and contributions to their industry.
