LC Farm Bureau annual meeting/picnic
The Lincoln County Farm Bureau annual meeting and picnic will be held Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Center and Fairgrounds starting at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $1 per person. Those attending will enjoy a steak dinner followed by a business meeting. Business will include election of directors and officers and discussion of policy issues and resolutions. All member families are encouraged to attend.
Stanford Leo Club
Teens ages 12-18 are invited to attend an informational meeting to help start the Stanford Leo Club on Monday, August 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Distinguished Young Women ticket sales
Tickets are on sale for the 2019 Lincoln County Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Stuart Underwood Auditorium at Lincoln County High School. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased by calling (606) 365-9782. Ottenheim Community Picnic
The Ottenheim Community Picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 2 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Potluck lunch will start at 1:30 p.m. Bring a dish (chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, utensils and plates will be provided); 2 p.m. will have live gospel music by Donnie Rodgers and Canoe Creek; and 3 p.m. will be a benefit auction (donated items are welcome). Rain or shine, bring a friend and a chair! If you are unable to attend, donations are welcome to help with upkeep of the historical building. Lanigan Family reunion
The Lanigan Family reunion will be held Saturday, September 1 at the Eubank Senior Citizen building. Doors open at 11 a.m. and reunion will run until 5 p.m.
Operation Christmas Child kickoff
Lincoln County Operation Christmas Child kick-off is set for Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church, 6426 KY Hwy 1247, Waynesburg. Experience “Africa in 2018” as we hear from Beth Rohrback of Danville, who was in Africa this year. Feel free to bring your children and youth groups as we experience an African distribution through Beth’s eyes. There will be no nursery provided. Everyone interested in learning more about Operation Christmas Child is invited. Hopkins Family reunion
The 54th annual Ewell and Ella Saylor Hopkins family reunion will be held Sunday, September 1 in the large pavilion at the William Whitley House near Crab Orchard. The reunion will begin at 11 a.m. and the potluck lunch will be start at noon. Soft drinks and water will be provided. Bring a covered dish and come and see old acquaintances. Fun Community Health Fair
The Stanford Lions Club is hosting a “Fun Community Health Fair” on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library in Stanford. Someone will be there to take your blood pressure, check your glucose levels, adult eye screening, and more. You can get your flu shot or Hepatitis A shot, with your insurance card. Receive information about the different services offered in our community. We will even have a craft table for the kids with some healthy snacks!
SLCFRC to hold Advisory Council meeting
The South Lincoln County Family Resource Center for Waynesburg and Highland Elementary schools, will hold an Advisory Council meeting at Waynesburg Elementary on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. Meetings are open to all. We are also in need of a Waynesburg and a Highland parent or legal guardian representative to serve on the council for the 2018-2019 school year. Coffman-Brown reunion

Prime Time focuses on reading
The South Lincoln County Family Resource Center will be hosting a six week, PRIME TIME Family Reading Time program at Waynesburg Elementary beginning September 4. Prime Time is a unique humanities-based and family-focused program proven to help children succeed academically and bond families around reading. Families will help their child enjoy reading and sharing ideas, explore topics such as community, fairness and determination, learn more about community and public library resources and plant the seeds for future academic success. Free transportation, child care, snacks/meals, and door prizes! All programs are free and open to the public. You must register by calling Karen Hignite at (606) 365-5815. Small Kitchen Appliances and Gadgets
Small kitchen appliances and gadgets with live demonstrations, recipe tastings and Q & A sessions will be featured at a seminar set for Tuesday, Aug. 28 at the Boyle County Extension Office, 99 Corporate Drive in Danville. Trick or Treat
Stanford Baptist Church is partnering with the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce for this year’s Trick or Treat. The event will be held at the Stanford Baptist Church Christian Life Center, (CLC) from 6-8:30 p.m. Inside table space is limited. If your business or organization would like to set up a table, please call Linda at (606) 365-2178 to reserve your spot.
Annual Chill’s 5K run/walk set for Oct. 21
The FOP Fort Logan Lodge #84 Chills 5K run/walk, held in memory of Captain T.J. and Cindy Hill, will be Sunday, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. Registration forms can be found at the Lincoln County Attorney’s office, Stanford Police Department, Stanford City Hall and other businesses in Stanford or call (859) 319-2120 if you need one sent to you. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Fee is $20 if you register before October 1 and $25 after October 1. Those who register early can choose between a dri-fit or cotton T-shirt. Great door prizes! Proceeds from the race will be used to give scholarships to Lincoln County seniors.
