Attention Lincoln County high school parents and teachers

The Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln County Schools System and the Lincoln County Extension office are sponsoring a Scholarship Shoppe event on Monday, Feb. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. This will be held at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Representatives from various colleges and community sponsors will be in attendance to provide information on scholarship opportunities, and to learn about the application process. For more information, call Kendra Mitchell at (606) 365-5775.

Chamber Father/Daughter dance set

The Father /Daughter dance sponsored by the Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will be held Saturday, Feb. 24 at Stanford Elementary school from 5 to 7 p.m. There will be an instant photo booth, flowers for sale, music by Tim Estes, dancing, light snacks and desserts, silent auction and more! Tickets are $20 per couple, add an additional daughter, $5. Tickets are available at Durham’s  Grocery, Kentucky Soaps & Such and Morgan’s on Main. Danville Pub Takeover Event – 1 to 4 p.m.,  Saturday, March 3. The Green Dragon Scottish Rite Club will be hosting our first annual pub takeover at the Beer Engine, located at 107 Larrimore Lane, Danville. We will be accepting donations for RiteCare Speech and Language Center, which helps bring new opportunities to underprivileged and disadvantaged children in the community. This event is open for friends and family. Come help support this great cause.

Trinty Heirs to be in concert

The Trinity Heirs will be in concert Saturday, Feb. 17 at Sulphur Well Christian Church in Nicholasville, at 6 p.m. Also singing will be Two for the Cross/Gods Glory and John Sanders, Country, Bluegrass and Southern gospel. For more information, call Danny (859) 327-7698.

Salvation Army Family Store Customer Appreciation

The Salvation Army Family Store, (815 East Main Street, will hold its annual Valentine’s Day Customer Appreciation, on Wednesday, Feb. 14. Refreshments will be served all day and there will also be a storewide sale. Feel free to stop by any time during the day, and let us say “thank you” for being a great community. Store hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Logan’s Fort Events Committee to meet

Logan’s Fort Events Committee will meet Monday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. The meeting is open to the public and the committee would like anyone who may want to have an event at the fort to attend or notify Stanford City Hall.

Democratic Woman’s Club to meet

The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet Thursday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. The meeting will focus on support for candidates in upcoming elections. All women are welcome.

Lincoln Youth soccer spring registration

Lincoln Youth Soccer Spring Registration for ages 4-12 will be Feb 12-March 2. You can register online by going to lincolncountyparks.org or in the park office Monday-Friday 1 to 4 p.m.

Heritage Hospice Volunteer Training

Heritage Hospice, Inc. will host a Volunteer Training Session on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Heritage Hospice Office, 120 Enterprise Drive, Danville. Volunteer opportunities include; clerical work, patient visits, fundraising and special events. We are sure that no matter which area you choose, you will enjoy being a part of the volunteer program. Chamber accepting nominations

The Lincoln County Chamber is now accepting nominations for the annual Chamber Banquet. Categories are June King Bastin Service Award, Farmer of the Year, Health Care Service Award, First Responder Award, Big Apple Award, Citizen of the Year. Applications are available at the Chamber office, or on line at lincolncountychamber.com. Remember, you can’t win if you are not nominated! For more information, call the Chamber (606) 365-4118.

LC Health Department to offer free quit smoking class

The Lincoln County Health Department is offering the American Lung Association’s Freedom From Smoking program, an eight-week cessation class. The class is free and the Nicotine Gum or Nicotine Patch will be provided free as well upon class attendance. The program is set to begin Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Lincoln County Health Department. Registration is required by calling Lee Ann Taylor at the health department at (606) 365-3106.

SLCFRC to hold Advisory Council meeting

The South Lincoln County Family Resource Center will hold an Advisory Council meeting at Waynesburg Elementary on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. Meetings are open to all. We are also in need of a Waynesburg parent or legal guardian representative to serve on the council for the 2018-2019 school year.

Nature’s Thyme Herb Group to meet

Nature’s Thyme Herb Group will meet Thursday, Feb 8 at 6 p.m. at the Garrard County Extension office. Tammy Horn Potter, Kentucky State Apiarist will teach us about bees, our little garden friends. Blood drives

The need for blood never stops, even during winter months when donations typically decrease because of bad weather and colds and flu. This month, Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is encouraging Kentuckians to roll up their sleeves, donate blood and help a Kentucky patient. Two blood drives are planned in Lincoln County. The first will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship room at the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main in Stanford and the second one will be held Monday, Feb. 19 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Crab Orchard Elementary, 137 Lancaster Street in Crab Orchard. To schedule your life-saving appointment or to get more information, call 800-775-2522, ext. 3758. As always, walk-ins are also welcome. Blood donors must be at least 17-years- old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Sixteen-year- old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be found at kybloodcenter.org.

Lunch at Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center

Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center invites all (60+) years old to join us for lunch on every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:30 a.m. The meals are FREE but donations are welcome. Please call by 2 p.m. the day before you plan to come in order to sign up for a meal. Bus transportation to the Center and home is also provided.  For more information, call (606) 365-9016.

Area Forage Production meeting

An area forage production meeting will be held Thursday, March 1 at the Boyle County Extension Office. All area farmers and agribusiness reps are invited to attend. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by speakers starting at 6:30 p.m. Program includes: 6:30 p.m. – Forage Management – Dr. Ray Smith, UK Extension Forage Specialist; 7 p.m. – Weed Management Strategies – Dr. J. D. American Legion Post 18 monthly meetings

The American Legion Post 18 in Stanford meets the first Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library, second floor. All veterans are welcome.

Square Dance lessons

Bingo-Cize

Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center presents Bingo-Cize every Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m in the center’s dining room. Age 60 and over. Free class. Call (606) 365-9016 to register.

SBDM Council meetings

•Waynesburg Elementary’s SBDM Council: February 15, March 15, April 19,  and May 17. All meetings will be held at 4 p.m. in the school library.

•Hustonville Elementary’s SBDM Council: February 15 at 4:30 p.m., March 15 at 4:30 p.m., April 19 at 4:30 p.m., and May 17 at 4:30 p.m.

•Highland Elementary’s SBDM Council: February 21, March 21, April 18, May 16 and June 13. The meetings are held at 4:30 p.m. in the school library.

Good Grief Support Group

The Good Grief Support Group will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second and last Thursday of each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. Join our caring, compassionate atmosphere as we share life experience and understanding in times of grief and bereavement. Snacks and coffee will be provided. Book store seeks local artists

The Rabbit Hole, a new book store in town is looking for local artists to display their work at the store, located at 713 E Main, Stanford. If you are interested, please contact Mary at (606) 510-1156.

Lions Club monthly meetings

The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at the Lincoln County Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and are invited to join the Lions Club. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings

The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.

Stanford Rotary Club meetings

The Stanford Rotary Club meets most Mondays at noon, at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. Anyone is welcome to attend.
