STANFORD — Incumbent Stanford Mayor Eddie Carter has filed to run for reelection.
Carter was originally appointed as mayor in 2015, following the death of T.J. Hill, and later returned to the seat by voters during a special election.
This year, Carter will face challenger Christopher Reed, who filed for the mayor’s seat in early December. Reed currently serves as Stanford’s City Attorney.
Lincoln County Clerk Sonny Spoonamore said no city races will appear on the ballot until November.
The deadline to file for partisan races in 2018 is 4 p.m. Jan. 30. The primary election will be May 22. Candidates for non-partisan races (city legislative bodies and mayors) have until Aug. 14 to file. The general election will be held Nov. 6.
