STANFORD — It’s the seventh year of Winterfest planning for Chairperson Kendra Mitchell and this year’s event had more to give thanks to community support and donations.
The Winterfest Committee received donations from private individuals, businesses and student clubs, Mitchell said.
This year, 59 families not only received one gift per child, but also a bag of non-perishable foods to take home.
Mitchell said it was all thanks to the generous community.
Planning for the annual Winterfest event began in September, she said.
Student members of the Future Business Leaders of America, as well as the National Honor Society, helped wrap presents and serve food during the event.
Families who participated received a hot meal before children lined up to see Santa and Mrs. Claus and receive their gifts.
“We couldn’t do it without all of the volunteers,” Mitchell said.
