Hunter’s Education Student Course

A free Kentucky Hunter Education Student Course is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 9, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cedar Creek Sporstman’s Club, located 6.6 miles from Stanford on Hwy. 150E, next to Cedar Creek Lake Dam. If you took the classroom sessions by CD-ROM or Internet, please print out the course completion voucher and attend the range session at one of the classes listed on Hunter Education page at fw.ky.gov.

LC Senior Citizens selling mums

The Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center is selling mums. Come by the Center’s bus garage (left side of building) on Thursday or Friday, Sept. 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $8.50 each or 2 for $15. Cash or check only! Limited colors and quantities – white, red, bronze, yellow and lavender (9 inch pots, 21-24 inch spread). Get a head start on decorating for fall.

Democratic Woman’s Club to meet

The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. Judge Jim Adams will be the speaker. All women are welcome.

Burial plots

Buffalo Springs Cemetery Board is notifying the public that effective October 1, the cost of burial plots at Buffalo Springs Cemetery will be $1,000.

Logan’s Fort Foundation Inc., annual meeting

The Logan’s Fort Foundation’s annual meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 4:30 p.m. in the Welcome Center located on Martin Luther King Street. The meeting is open to the public.

2018 Distinguished Young Women ticket

Tickets are now available for the 2018 Lincoln County Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program. The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the Stuart Underwood Auditorium at Lincoln County High School. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased by calling Stuart at (606) 365-9782. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the auditorium box office the night of the program. Butchertown Country Day Festival

Butchertown Country Day Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Butchertown Community Center. Live music by Still Voice with Randy Douglas and Joe Conder from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Contests include nail driving, cake walks, hay bale toss. There will be food, an auction, country store, yard sale and children’s games. A drawing will be held for a quilt made by Community Center ladies. Free admission.

Memorial classes to hold reunion

Memorial High School Class of 1967 and 1968 will hold their 50th and 49th year class reunion on Saturday, Sept 16 at the Greer Park in Kings Mountain. The gate will open at 3 p.m. The meal will be potluck and will be served at 5 p.m. We will be providing meat and drinks. Everyone who attended school with us is welcome to attend. United Way Day of Action

United Way Day of Action will be held Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Logan Hubble Park. We need volunteers to help clean up the park and paint the restrooms inside and out. Sign up www.hkww.org or just show up. Heavy rain/storms cancel.

LCHS Class of 1982 to hold reunion

Lincoln County High School Class of 1982 will hold its 35th high school reunion on Saturday, Sept. 9 at Mallards in Danville from 7 p.m.  to midnight. Cost is $10 per person. No reservations required.

Logan Hubble Park meeting changed

Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Logan Hubble Park Board will meet Monday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Coon Club. Our regular meetings are the first Monday of each month excluding November-February.

Square Dance lessons

Fort Logan Pioneer Square Dance lessons begin on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at First Southern Veterans Park community building, 567 Goshen Rd., Stanford from 7 to 9 p.m. Learn Western Square Dancing and line dancing. First two lessons are free. Call Judy at (606) 669-0133 or Jerry at (859) 410-4556.

LC Health Department staff training

The Lincoln County Health Department will be closing on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. for mandatory staff training.

Class of 1969 Memorial ladies to meet on Sept. 8

Due to the holiday, the Class of 1969 Memorial High School ladies will meet for lunch on Friday, Sept. 8 at noon at the Kentucky Depot.

Blood drive to be held

Blood donors help Kentucky patients and support the healthcare of their communities by providing life-saving blood components for patients who depend on transfusions. In a sense, they have the community’s back. That’s why Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is providing a fun “I’ve got your back” T-shirt for donors at the upcoming blood drive. The drive will be held Thursday, Sept. 21 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship room at the Stanford Presbyterian Church,  213 East Main in Stanford.

First Responders Appreciation Day

First Responders Appreciation Day will be held Saturday, Sept. 9 at the Lincoln County Veteran’s Park. Music by local musicians and singers beginning at 2:30 p.m. at the First Southern Veteran’s Park. First Responders Prayer/Appreciation Meal at 4 p.m. First responders eat free, general public will be $6 (meal catered by Bullhead BBQ). Bring your own lawn chair. T.J. Hill/Donna Sheron memorial Fort to Fort Bike Ride. Registration begins at 10 a.m. at Logan’s Fort (end of Martin Luther King Blvd. in Stanford). Kickstands up at 11:30 a.m. Money raised will be given to Shop With A Cop.

Youth Fall Fishing Derby

Youth Fall Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Logan Hubble Park. All participants need to sign in at the handicapped fishing ramp. Heavy rain/storms cancel.

LC Farm Bureau annual meeting and picnic

Lincoln County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting and picnic on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Center and Fairgrounds. Steak Dinner – only $1 per person. Business will include election of directors and officers; and discussion of policy issues and resolutions. Activities will include a magic show, safety demonstration, Case display and member services display. All Farm Bureau member families are encouraged to attend.

Lincoln County Farmers Market is now open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day or until sold out. We are located 1/4 mile on 150 going toward Crab Orchard on the left in the Veterans Ball Park. For market information call (606) 669-3374.
