LCHS Class of 1987 30 High School Reunion

The Lincoln County High School Class of 1987 will hold a reunion on July 29, 2017 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the

Cedar Creek Sportman’s Club. Meals will be served pre-paid at $30 per ticket. Door admission with no meal is $10 per ticket. All faculty and staff of the high school will be admitted free by the Class. LC Health Department to hold monthly Diabetes Support Group

The Lincoln County Diabetes Support Group will meei Thursday, August 3 at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Health Department. The topic for August is “Losing Weight & Visceral Fat”. Anyone is welcome to attend. For questions, you can call Lee Ann Taylor at the health department at (606) 365-3106.

Blood drive in Lincoln County

It’s time for the annual Kentucky State Fair – corn dogs, concerts and amusement rides. Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) will be hosting a blood drive each day during the Fair. To celebrate State Fair Days, anyone who registers to give blood at the following blood drive will receive a limited edition State Fair T-shirt. Everyone will also be automatically entered to win a Toyota Highlander. The blood drive will be held  Thursday, Aug. 17 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship room  at the Presbyterian Church at 213 East Main in Stanford. Blood donors must be 17-years- old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health. Donors must also show a photo I.D. with first and last name, like a state-issued driver’s license. Sixteen-year- old donors must have a signed parental permission slip, which can be

found at kybloodcenter.org.

LC Historical Society to hold annual picnic

The Lincoln County Historical Society will hold its annual potluck picnic on Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Smith-Baughman Farm, 2035 Ky. Hwy. 1247 as guest of Jann and William Henry Baughman. Bring a dish, friend and show up. The Historical Society will furnish the meat, drinks, plates and utensils.

Ninth annual Bourbon Chase race seeks Stanford volunteers 

The 9th annual Bourbon Chase race will be held Friday, October 13. Runners  all over the United States and around the world will be coming through Stanford beginning about 7:30 pm until the wee hours of the morning. Volunteers are needed to man crucial route points!  Volunteers are welcome to work an hour or two, or the entire night.  Please call the Chamber for more information (606) 365-4118.

Double ribbon-cutting Aug. 1 for new Main Street businesses 

The public is invited to attend a double ribbon cutting. We have two new businesses open on Main Street, Blue Monday, Pink Tuesday, a Children’s Clothing Boutique,  located at 305 W Main, and The Rabbit Hole, a bookstore, located at 703 E Main Street. Business After Hours begins at 4:30 with ribbon cutting at Blue Monday Pink Tuesday at 5, and ribbon cutting at the Rabbit Hole at 5:30. Refreshments and door prizes! Fort Logan Hospital volunteers collecting school supplies for Safety Day

Fort Logan Hospital Volunteers are collecting school supplies to be distributed on Safety Day, August 5. Suggested donations would be packs of paper, scissors, pocket folders, crayons, composition notebooks, markers. Donations may be dropped off at the gift shop at Fort Logan Hospital, or the Chamber office. Or call the Chamber at 365-4118 for pick up.

Free School Supply Giveaway

The Stanford Church of Christ will hold a free school supply giveaway on Saturday, July 29 starting at 10 a.m. at the building at 702 East Main Street. Backpacks filled with notebooks, pencils, crayons, scissors and other items will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will also be  serving hot dogs and drinks. All are invited. Please make plans to join us.

LC Farmers Market open

Lincoln County Farmers Market is now open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day or until sold out. We will have a special community event on Tuesday, July 25 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. We will be selling fresh veggies all day with special activities for kids from 1 to 4  p.m.- cooking etc. We are located 1/4 mile on 150 going toward Crab Orchard on the left in the Veterans Ball Park. 2017 Quilting Retreat 

The 2017 Quilting Retreat will be held Thursday and Friday, July 27 and 28 at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Class 1: Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to  3:30 p.m. – Disappearing Nine Patch Quilt Pattern, Instructor Rita Stewart; Class 2: Thursday, 4:30  to 8:30 p.m. To Be Determined, Instructor Rita Stewart; Class 3: Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. – Pineapple Quilt Block, Instructor, Nina Coyer. Participants may select one, two, or all three classes. Supplies are required. Spaces are limited. Pre-registration is required to participate. Payment of fees is required to  reserve a space for the quilt retreat. Please call the Lincoln County Extension Office  for complete details, registration form, and class descriptions, pictures, etc. All samples will be available at the Lincoln County Extension Office after Wednesday,July 12. Some samples are ready now.

New book store seeks local artists to display work at store

From Compassion to Action; Volunteer for SHIP

Do you hear your family, friends or neighbors say they can’t afford their Medicare, medication or medical bills? Do you feel the need to help or wish you knew who could? Legal Aid of the Bluegrass’s SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Assistance) Program is the answer. SHIP has knowledgeable, caring staff and volunteers that can train you to resolve Medicare issues for the elderly and vulnerable in your community. Lions Club monthly meetings

The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at the Lincoln County Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and are invited to join the Lions Club. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings

The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.

Square Dance lessons 

Fort Logan Pioneers Square Dance Club mainstream lessons are being held at the Habitat Building, 4160 Hwy. 27 South, Stanford from 7 to 9 p.m. First lesson is free. Call (859) 410-4556 for more information.

Stanford Rotary Club meetings

The Stanford Rotary Club meets most Mondays at noon, at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Open Mic Night is every Friday night at 7 p.m. at the historic L&N Depot.

Cheese making – 30 Minute Mozzarella – July 27 at 6 p.m. Join Miranda Woodall from Alltech on how to make delicious mozzarella cheese in only 30 minutes. There will also be a variety of cheese for tasting. Call the library at (606) 365-7513 to register.

Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class/Strong Women Program: Presented by the Lincoln County Health Dept. is held Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 at the Lincoln County Public Library. We will focus on flexibility and strength training exercises. New participants are always welcome.
