Bluegrass singing in Waynesburg
A Bluegrass singing will be held Saturday, June 24 starting at 1 p.m. at the Waynesburg Area Rescue Squad. Singing will feature eight bands. Free to the public. There will be concessions on the grounds. All proceeds will go to the fire department and rescue squads.

Floral Hall
Floral Hall exhibits can be entered on Monday, July 3 between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Flower and garden exhibits can be entered on Wednesday, July 5 between 9 and 11:30 a.m. Fair catalogs and entry tags are available at the Lincoln County Extension Office. You can pre-register at the Extension Office to save time when bringing your entries. The Floral Hall is open every night Monday-Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. Senior Citizens are invited to visit the Floral Hall on Friday, July 7 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. There is no admission charge for the visits on Friday morning. The Lincoln County Health Department will be closing at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28 for a staff meeting.

New book store seeks local artists to display work

Library hosting
Birds of Prey program
The Lincoln County Public Library will host Liberty Nature Center: Birds of Prey on Saturday, July 1 at noon. Bring the whole family, and join us at the library see and learn about these amazing birds of prey! We will be giving away a free pair of Cincinnati Reds Baseball tickets at the program (you must be present to win.) Program presented by Liberty Nature Center. Highland Elementary kindergarten registration
Highland Elementary will hold registration for Kindergarten students for the 2017-2018 school year on July 13, at the school from 5 to 7 p.m. Students enrolled in Lincoln County for 2016-2017 do not need to re-enroll. Please call the school at (606) 365-2768 if you have questions. No appointment needed for this evening registration. Expect to spend about 20-30 minutes at the school to complete the process. Please bring the following with you to complete the registration: 1) The student; 2) Student’s birth certificate; 3) Student’s social security card; 4) Immunization records; 5) School physical, including dental screening; 6) Vision exam records

The Crab Orchard 4th of July Celebration will be held Friday, June 30 and Saturday, July 1. For more information contact Crab Orchard City Hall (606) 355-2319. AARP Driver Safety Program
Individuals who are age 55 or older are invited to participate in an AARP Driver Safety Program sponsored by McDowell Wellness Center. The course is scheduled for Wednesday, July 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $15 for AARP members (bring AARP card to class) or $20 for non-AARP members. Refreshments will be provided. This course is sanctioned by the AARP. Individuals who complete the course may be eligible for a five-year discount on their automobile insurance. You do not have to be a member of AARP or McDowell Wellness Center to participate. The class is limited to 25 participants. To enroll, or for more information, please call (859) 936-9355.
2017 Rabies Clinic
The 2017 Lincoln County Rabies Vaccination Clinic will be held on the following dates: Monday, June 26 – 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Waynesburg Elementary School; Wednesday, June 28 – 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Crab Orchard Elementary School; Friday, June 30 – 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Hustonville Elementary School; and Friday, June 30 – 6:30 to 8 p.m. (evening clinic) at Lincoln County High School. Rabies vaccination fees are $5. Sponsored by Lincoln County Health Department, Dr. Jonathan Alford and Dr. Devin Carlton.
Lions Club monthly meetings
The Lions Club meets on the first and third Mondays of every month at the Lincoln County Public Library. The public is encouraged to attend and are invited to join the Lions Club. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings

Zentangle 101: Third Thursday of every month (through June 2017), 10 a.m. to noon. A different Zentangle project will be instructed step by step. Beginners and experts are welcome to attend. The Zentangle Method is an easy to learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. Call the library to register (365-7513).
Happy Scrappers: Crafting Club: Third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Bring your craft projects and supplies and spend the day working on your unfinished projects, get new ideas or learn a new skill.
Arthritis Foundation Exercise Class/Strong Women Program: Presented by the Lincoln County Health Dept. is held Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 at the Lincoln County Public Library. We will focus on flexibility and strength training exercises. New participants are always welcome. (No classes on June 26 or 28).
From Compassion to Action; Volunteer for SHIP
Do you hear your family, friends or neighbors say they can’t afford their Medicare, medication or medical bills? Do you feel the need to help or wish you knew who could? Legal Aid of the Bluegrass’s SHIP (Senior Health Insurance Assistance) Program is the answer. SHIP has knowledgeable, caring staff and volunteers that can train you to resolve Medicare issues for the elderly and vulnerable in your community.
