Omer Shearer, 73

Omer Shearer, 73, of Stanford, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at home. 
Born August 23, 1943, in Lincoln County, Omer was a son of the late Omer Sr. and Effie Harp Shearer. He attended Stanford Baptist Church, was a veteran of the United States Army and worked in residential construction for most of his life. Omer enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, telling life stories, being with his grandchildren and was a loving husband and devoted to his family. 
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Pauline Franklin Shearer of Stanford; one son, Ricky Shearer, Sr. (Amanda); two daughters, Teresa Lynn Shearer and Kristi Shearer Poynter (Michael); one sister, Marie Whitehouse; eight grandchildren, Devin Estes, Taylor Chadwell, Misty Fields, Ricky Shearer, Jr., Trevor Godby, Faith Godby, Matthew Shearer, and Jacob Shearer; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Cecil Shearer, Robert Shearer, Bill Shearer, John Shearer, and Richard Shearer; and four sisters, Mae Camel, Christine Rutledge, Flora Dailey, and Ethel Adams. 
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Reverends James Baughman and Vola Brown officiating. Burial followed in the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post #18. 
Active pallbearers were Devin Estes, Ricky Shearer, Jr., Trevor Godby, Jordan Fields, Jesse Chadwell, and Mike Hill.
