Leroy H. Thompson passed away on February 28, 2003. The Caswell Saufley American Legion Post 18 will be performing a graveside military honors memorials service to honor Mr. Leroy H. Thompson at noon on Thursday, May 2, at Buffalo Springs Cemetery. The service will take place in the new section of the cemetery. This service will honor what would have been Mr. Thompson’s 100th birthday. At the time of Mr. Thompson’s death in 2003, circumstances did not make the service possible. 

Mr. Thompson was born in Kings Mountain, Ky on May 2, 1924. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. J.W. Thompson of Kings Mountain, and was the son-in-law of Mr. & Mrs. C.D. Boone of Stanford. 

Mr. Thompson graduated from Kings Mountain High School in 1942, and enlisted in the Navy that year. He served in Okinawa in WW II, where he received a Letter of Commendation. Mr. Thompson was an Elder, Deacon, and Elder Emeritus of the Christian Church, as well as a 32nd degree member of The Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
