The Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation hosted their annual charity golf scramble at the Danville Country Club on May 6. The event consisted of an 18-hole, 4-person scramble, luncheon, various vendor booths, and a chance to win a Chevrolet Equinox from Bob Allen Motor Mall for a hole-in-one. Thirty-seven teams were represented between a morning and afternoon flight.
Scott Burkes was awarded “Closest to the Pin”, Chris Davis was awarded the “Longest Putt” of the day, and Jordan Aumiller snagged the title for “Longest Drive.” Third place overall was awarded to First Southern National Bank (Team A) by team members David Grigson, Tyler Cain, Kaycie Bandura, and Craig Lyons shot an impressive 22 under par. Second place went to Johnson & Pohlmann Insurance shooting 23 under par by Scott Burkes, John Funkhouser, John Russell, and Jon Scalf. The 2024 Champion title went to Danville Office Equipment (Team B) where Dustin Jones, Zach Willis, Shane Bertram and Cameron Claunch shot an impressive 24 under par.
The event raised $63,000 for the Foundation’s mission of enhancing health care initiatives throughout Boyle, Casey, Garrard, Mercer, Lincoln, and Washington counties. This year alone, the Foundation has provided funding for area middle and high schools for substance abuse and mental health education, provided five lifesaving AED devices in public areas, covered the costs of RX medication and health care services for those who would otherwise not have access to care, provided vital medical equipment in our service region, and funded Kids Can Do Pediatric Therapy Center programs including their adaptive summer camp (Camp Can Do), a nutritional camp (Camp Healthy Kids), an orthotic shoe program, and also adaptive bikes for children with disabilities.
