Two defending state track and field champions won their events last Friday at the Central Kentucky Conference Championships track and field meet.

Germani Crosby of Lincoln County and Jordan Piazza of Mercer County were among four individual winners from area schools in the CKC meet at West Jessamine Middle School that included most local teams and was the final tune-up for regional competition.

Crosby, the defending Class 2A champion in the girls shot put, won that event with a throw of 38 feet, 10 inches that was one inch off her top throw at last year’s state meet. She also finished second in the discus.
