Solarize Boyle is a new program that helps area homeowners, small businesses, farmers, and non-profit organizations with installing solar panels on their homes or buildings at discounted rates.

The program is open to all homeowners in Boyle County and its six surrounding counties: Lincoln, Garrard, Casey, Marion, Washington, and Mercer, as well as small businesses, places of worship, non-profit organizations, farm operations, and governmental agencies.

Solarize Boyle will provide a pre-screening of your home to determine if solar is viable. Then they will connect you with the installers and provide a step-by-step explanation of the procedure.

Solarize Boyle connects participants with pre-screened solar installers and provides access to bulk purchase discounts (up to 15%). A 30% Federal Tax Credit is available for solar PV installations to businesses and homeowners, and is now also available to nonprofits, schools, and government agencies in the form of direct payments.

Solarize Boyle is a collaboration between Boyle Fiscal Court, Danville City Commission, and Kentucky Solar Energy Society. Solarize Boyle has no connection to “market solar” or “utility-level solar.” Neither Fiscal Court or City Commission or KySES have any financial responsibility; all contracts are between the customer and the installation contractor.

Sign-ups are live on the Boyle County Fiscal Court website at boylecountyky.gov/251/Solarize-Boyle. The enrollment deadline for this year is July 31.

Many opportunities will be offered through the summer for the community to learn about solar and how it might reduce your electric bill while improving our community.
