Funkhouser named 2023 Snow Queen

STANFORD – Not only was this year’s annual Christmas Parade filled with floats and classic cars, but Snow Pageant contestants were also escorted down Main Street on Saturday night.

The Annual Snow Pageant brought contestants from all over the county vying for several titles including Snow Princess, Snow Duchess, Snow Countess and the 2023 Snow Queen.

Following the Christmas parade, the Snow Pageant was held on the Lincoln County Courthouse steps.

Madeline Funkhouser, 18, was named the top candidate out of a field of 41 contestants to wear the Snow Queen crown and title.

Funkhouser, the daughter of John and Kendra Funkhouser and Devona Stamper, is a senior at Lincoln County High School. She was sponsored by the LCHS Girls Golf Team and escorted by Jackson Osbourn. Funkhouser is part of a variety of school clubs and sports and is currently the LCHS School Board representative.

First runner-up in the Snow Queen contest was Koral Ranck, 18, daughter of Justin and Bobi Ranck of Waynesburg. Her sponsor was the 4-H Science Club. She was escorted by Blaze Bennett, son of Tasha Bennett.

Brooklyn Adams, 17, sponsored by Judge-Executive Woods Adams, was named the second runner-up. Adams, daughter of Woods and Lezli Adams of Stanford, was escorted by Elan Lane, son of Darin and Diana Lane of Stanford.

Third runner-up was Bae-Bae Smith, daughter of Kenny and Tammy Smith of Stanford. She was escorted by Jaxon Popplewell, son of Brian and Kara Popplewell.

Sara Dunn, 17, sponsored by Bluegrass South Stockyards, was named the fourth runner-up. Dunn, the daughter of Kenny and Cathy Dunn of Hustonville, was escorted by Colby Townes, son of Jim and Katie Townes of Stanford.

The 2023 Snow Queen honorable mentions included:
