Stanford man charged in pursuit that ended in crash

A Stanford man was arrested after Danville Police say they observed him driving recklessly before crashing his vehicle into a tree.

Kevin Smith, 44, was observed about 4 p.m. on Sept. 13 committing several moving violations, including failing to yield to traffic on Hustonville Road as police attempted to stop him, according to Danville PD. As the pursuit continued, police say Smith’s Chevrolet Z71 pickup crossed the center line into opposing traffic before going off the east side of Hustonville Road, through a fence and into a tree, whereupon it stopped.

Smith was removed from the vehicle by officers, placed under arrest and transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash, according to police.

He was charged with fleeing and evading, reckless driving and operating a vehicle under the influence of alchohol.
