STAFF REPORT
Boaters will have to use caution when approaching an iconic spot on the Kentucky River for the foreseeable future.
Norfolk Southern began work on High Bridge track maintenance on Monday to replace railroad ties, according to a news release. The bridge spans the Kentucky River between Jessamine and Mercer counties near Shaker Village.
Due to the possibility for falling debris, boaters will be unable to traverse the river near the bridge from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17, Aug. 21-24 and Aug. 28-31.
Norfolk Southern has worked with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources to complete the work while keeping boaters safe and that outside of the above time and dates, boaters can traverse under the bridge as normal.
