’Tis the season for fresh, local food

STANFORD – The Lincoln County Farmer’s Market is inviting the public to join them in kicking off the local food season with a grand opening event.
The grand opening is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Vendors will have a variety of fresh, locally grown or made items for sale.
Healthy living is the theme of the event and will feature special visitors including representatives from Ephraim McDowell providing free blood pressure screenings, the University of Kentucky Extension Office will be on hand with healthy eating recipes, as well as the Lincoln County Health Department.
Farmer’s Market vendors will have a variety of fresh, locally-grown produce, meats, as well as hand-made items such as goat’s milk soap and more. The Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association will also be cooking steak sandwiches and burgers.
Select Farmer’s Market vendors are now accepting WIC, Senior Nutrition Vouchers and EBT SNAP benefits.
The market is located at the Farmer’s Market pavilion at Veteran’s Park in Stanford.
