Peyton Louise Gooch, 87, Lexington, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023, at The Willows at Fritz Farm. A native of Lincoln County, KY, she was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn andCarrie Gooch of Stanford, Kentucky, and her sisters, Lorraine Gooch, Stanford; and Mildred Gooch Holsclaw, Lexington. She was a member of Central Christian Church where she served on several committees and served as a Deacon in her church. Peyton graduated from the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing; had a BA from the University of KY, and MS ED from the University of Kentucky. She taught nursing for six years at Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing and taught in the ADN nursing program at Lexington Community College for eighteen years. In her retirement years, she enjoyed her time with family and friends, traveling in the states and out of country, volunteering at Central Christian Church, reading and attending musical programs. She was a giving person who will be missed not only by her family, but her many friends and students. Survivors include two nieces, Marsha H. Cox (Ron) and Sheila K. Holsclaw, of Lexington; a great niece and nephew, Stacy L. Cochran (Mike), Columbus, Ohio; and Matthew S. Cox, Lexington. She has five great great nieces and nephews and a great great great niece and nephew and many cousins. Funeral services 12:00 noon on Friday, June 16, 2023, at W. R. Milward -Southland conducted by The Reverend Elizabeth King. Friends may call 10:30 – 12:00 noon on Friday, June 16, prior to funeral services. Interment will follow with a family graveside service at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, Kentucky.
