Stanford departments report January activity

STANFORD – The Stanford Fire Department responded to two building fires and 53 rescue and Emergency Medical Service calls during the month of January.

According to the monthly report given to the Stanford City Council, the SFD responded to a total of 73 incidents.

From Jan. 1 to Jan. 31, SFD responded to the following incidents:

• building fire – 2

• excessive heat, scorch burns with no ignition – 1

• medical assist, assist EMS crew – 49

• motor vehicle accident with no injuries – 2

• search for person on land – 1

• extrication of victim(s) from machinery – 1

• service call, other – 1

• water problem, other – 1

• water or steam leak – 1

• dispatched & cancelled en route – 4

• no incident found on arrival at dispatch address – 1

• authorized controlled burning – 2

• malicious, mischievous false call, other – 1

• unintentional transmission of alarm, other – 1

• alarm system activation, no fire – unintentional – 4

• special type of incident, other – 1

Since Jan. 1, the Stanford Police Department reported 1,009 contacts made through 911 calls.

From Jan. 1 to Jan. 31, SPD wrote a total of 269 citations and gave 61 warnings. A total of 35 arrests were made in January. The department reported 26 “incidents/cases” and 12 accidents.

SPD Officers completed four hours of training in January including two hours of departmental roll call training and two hours of active shooter training.

Stanford Code Enforcement reported one violation and 12 verbal warnings during the month of January. Code Enforcement wrote two citations and held one board meeting, one Planning and Zoning meeting and one Board of Adjustments meeting.

Code Enforcement approved two building permits, one certificate of occupancy and one commercial building change of use. The department also received one variance request.

Stanford Code Enforcement issued or renewed 157 business licenses in January.
