On Feb. 11, all five Lincoln County elementary schools gathered at Highland Elementary for the District 53 Governor’s Cup competition.

Since its beginning in 1985, the Governor’s Cup encourages depth and breadth of academic knowledge, cultural literacy, teamwork, leadership, creativity, risk assessment and critical thinking, as well as teamwork.

Crab Orchard Elementary was the overall winner and Hustonville Elementary was the runner-up.
