Carrie Truitt has been named the Executive Director of Camp Horsin’ Around, a Central Kentucky non-profit organization that provides an outdoor camp adventure for children whose health is compromised or have special needs.
A Central Kentucky native, Truitt has experience in non-profit management, corporate and donor relations, and fundraising. Previously, she served in leadership roles with Hosparus Health, the Arts Council of Mercer County, the Art Center of the Bluegrass, and the Ephraim McDowell Health Care Foundation. Truitt earned a degree in Arts Administration from the University of Kentucky and has a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Campbellsville University.
“With her passion for the health and well-being of children and families, Carrie is a great fit to help lead our mission of making Happy Campers,” says Jane Warner, Camp Horsin’ Around board chair. “Carrie’s knowledge of the area, her community connections and vision will help the Camp continue to thrive and grow.”
Truitt says she looks forward to sharing the joy of Camp Horsin’ Around.
“I am truly excited to join the incredible team at Camp Horsin’ Around,” Truitt says. “Summer camp is a quintessential childhood experience. For children who are impacted by serious illness or have special needs, this rite of passage may seem unattainable. Camp Horsin’ Around offers the opportunity for children, and their families, to make memories that will last a lifetime.”
