Those in attendance included U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, Rep. David Meade, Judge-Executive Woods Adams, Stanford Mayor Dalton Miller and others. The Lincoln County Schools band was there to play the National Anthem.

The brand new building will be on Wade Owens Drive next to the Walmart. The facility will have two parts; the Lincoln Family Medical Center on one side and First Choice Immediate Care center on the other side. The immediate care will be open every day of the year.

Eric Loy, CEO of Cumberland Family Medical, said their organization has grown exponentially over 15 years. From two small clinics in 2007, Cumberland has grown to 161 locations across 30 Kentucky counties in order to address rural healthcare needs.

“We all know that lack of access to healthcare leads to poor health outcomes, it leads to worsening of health disparities,” Loy said.

Loy said in seeking help from the government, he’s talked to Senator Rand Paul regarding their facilities about 20 times over the years. He thanked Paul, saying that he’s always been a help to them.

“Having local, close-by doctors is a great thing,” Paul said. “I wish you the best of success, I know you’re in good hands, and Doctor Loy and his team will provide a great space. This is part of what our community needs and it’s always good to have more healthcare in any community, and to have it close by.”

The facility’s design is about 90% finished, Loy explained, and they will be looking to put bids out soon. The building will be 15,000 square feet.

Representative David Meade said they started the process for this new facility in 2019, after discussions about the need for more access to healthcare in rural communities.

“We have great physicians, we have great medical staff in the county, but we can always use more,” Meade said. “This is a great investment in our community and it’s going to improve the health outcomes of people in our community.”

Cumberland offers all primary care services, in addition to other services like pediatrics, OB/GYN, oral health services, school-based health centers, behavioral health services, substance use disorder/MAT treatment, a pediatric wellness program, a workplace wellness program, a 340B discount pharmacy program, outreach services, local scholarship opportunities, and more.
