Della Jane Baker, 95, of Crab Orchard, Kentucky passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Casey County Hospital in Liberty. She was the widow of Lawrence Baker who preceded her in death on October 3, 1976. Della was born in the Heidelburg Community of Lee County, Kentucky on March 22, 1927, to the late Jesse and Hazel (Woodard) Bowman. At a young age, Della was baptized in the Kentucky River in Beatyville and attended the Heidelberg Missionary Baptist Church as she grew up. She had worked as a seamstress for Cowden’s Manufacturing and would sew from home, making dresses and quilts for many. She was a member of the Crab Orchard Homemakers Club and the Watts Chapel Baptist Church. Della treasured her children and embraced every moment with them and her grandchildren.

Della is survived by a daughter, Brenda J. & Husband, Gary Wesley of Liberty; two sons: Billy L. Baker & Wife, Rebecca of Berea and Johnny Baker & Wife, Leasa of Lancaster; 11 Grandchildren: Nicholas Baker, Emily Eldridge, Jason Baker, Megan Noel, Kristin Dalessio, Jonathan Baker, Carrie Bullock, Haley Baker, Stacy Fleming, Brittney Baker & Sarah Caven; 3 Step Grandchildren: Amanda Bates, Mark Wesley and Patty Martin; 21 Great Grandchildren, 6 Step Great Grandchildren,4 Great Great Grandchildren, 6 Step Great Great Grandchildren

In addition to her husband and parents, Della was preceded in death by 4 Sons, Kenneth, Howard, Larry & Ronnie Wayne Baker and 3 infant children; 5 Sisters, Nannie B. Freeman, Lucille Ryan, Helen Fields, Nana Marie Force & Geneva Jones and 2 brothers, Fred & Clarence Bowman

Pallbearers were Jason Baker, Jonathan Baker, Nicholas Baker, Gary Wesley, Cameron Bullock, and Caleb Bullock
Funeral Services held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 23, 2022 at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Johnny Baker and Bro. Dan Gutenson officiating. Burial followed at the Crab Orchard Cemetery. Visitation was prior to the funeral starting at 1pm.
