A 39-year-old Hustonville man was killed following a motorcycle accident Saturday night.
Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum pronounced David Simpson, of Hustonville, dead at the scene at about 9:30 p.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of U.S. Hwy 127 and Ky. Hwy. 1194.
Marcum said Simpson was traveling northbound on U.S. Hyw. 127 on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he collided with a pick up truck that was attempting to make a left turn onto Ky. Hwy. 1194. The truck was driven by Hunter L. Biggs, 23, of Hustonville.
“He (Biggs) turned into the path of the motorcycle and the motorcycle struck him,” Marcum said.
Simpson was not wearing a helmet.
“There was another motorcyclist that was traveling with him that was a few feet in front of him,” Marcum said.
Kentucky State Police are leading the investigation, Marcum said. A KSP trooper was called to the scene to reconstruct the accident.
Lincoln County EMS, Lincoln County Fire and Hustonville Fire all responded to the scene. The roadway was cleared after about three hours.
Marcum said no alcohol or drug use is suspected.
“I took him (Simpson) for an autopsy, per protocol,” he said. “KSP took the driver of the truck to Ephraim McDowell for toxicology and that’s pending. That’s per protocol for a motor vehicle death.”
