Lincoln County Schools is excited to announce Dr. Christopher Murray as the new Director of Secondary Schools for Lincoln County Schools. Murray has been the Principal at Bate Middle School for the past four years and will now be providing leadership in the areas of curriculum, instruction, assessment and planning for Lincoln County Middle School and High School.

Dr. Murray has worked in education for 11 years and has been with Danville Independent Schools since 2017 where he spent one year as the assistant principal at Danville High School and has been the principal at Bate since 2018. Before coming to Danville he was an assistant principal and athletic director for Metro Nashville Public Schools.

“I am truly excited to join the Lincoln County team,” said Dr. Murray. “There are many great things going on in the schools, and I am excited to come in and help move instruction and student achievement to the next level. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to working with the administration, faculty, and staff to continue and grow the student successes.”

He and his wife Mary Beth Ballard Murray have two young sons, Beckett and Hayes. In his free time he enjoys cooking and wrestling with the boys in the living room.

“We are excited about the addition of Dr. Murray to our Student Support Center staff. Having someone working extensively with our middle and high school daily will be of great benefit to those schools, their staff and students. He brings a lot of creativity and extensive knowledge with him too,” said Superintendent Michael Rowe.

Dr. Murray is expected to begin his new role with the district in late November. For more information about Lincoln County Schools please contact the Student Support Center at 606.365.2124.
