Leonard D. Owens, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, in Shelbyville, Kentucky.
He and his family were originally from Lincoln County, Kentucky. He was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and attended New Hope Pentecostal Church. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a big-time fisherman and fox, and rabbit hunter, and loved every one of his grandbabies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dovie Owens, and brother, Sherman Owens. Leonard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Barbara Walls Owens; his children, Rebecca “Becky” McClease, Monty Lee Owens, Kathy Greenwell, Larry Owens, Kenny Owens, David Owens, Tammy Shouse, and Michelle, Shouse; his siblings, James Owens, Normie Brown, Wanda Allison, and Jean Hill; his 24 grandchildren; his 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandbaby on his way. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, at the Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation was 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial is at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery. |
