Cole, Spears bow to Beechwood in state bowling championships
Lincoln County’s Charlie Cole and Adam Spears saw a quick exit in the 2020 KHSAA State Bowling Unified Championships in Louisville, bowing out in the first round with a loss to the eventual state champion team from Beechwood High School.
Cole, a Lincoln County High School freshman, and Spears, an eighth-grader at Lincoln County Middle School, unified champions for Region 8, were seeded 12th out of 14 teams after the qualifying round at the Executive Strike & Spare lanes. They fell 175-139 to the Beechwood team of Hailey Noah and Jensen Linder, which was seeded fifth after the qualifying round.
Noah and Linder, the Region 6 champs, downed the Region 1 team of Quintin McKenzie and Kadyn Hargis of Barren County 159-122 in the finals.
