Catherine Brown Owens, 86, of McKinney, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at Landmark of Lancaster in Lancaster.

Born on April 14, 1933 in Stanford to the late Willis Brown and Dora Naylor Brown. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She attended Geneva Community Church for most of her life.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, James T. Owens of McKinney; four sons, James “Buck” Owens (Paulette) of New Salem, Jackie Owens (Rita) of Geneva, Marty Owens of Stanford, and Garnett Owens (Teresa) of McKinney; three daughters, Barbara Walls (Dale) of McKinney, Shelia Harris (Scott) of McKinney, and Bonita Gilliam (Dannie) of McKinney; one brother, Vernon Brown (Ellen) of Hustonville; one sister, Emma King of Geneva; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Corena Yocum; three brothers, J.T. Brown, Gabe Wesley Brown and Ernest H. Brown; one sister, Mamie Privett and two great-great-grandchildren, Kynsleigh Wilcher and her namesake, Leah Catherine Cordier.

The funeral will be on today (Thursday), October 31, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. Chris Taylor and Rev. Mike Yocum officiating the service.

Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.

Active pallbearers are Marty Owens, Garnett Owens, Christopher Yocum, Ed Walls, Jamie Owens, Sherman Owens, Ryan Owens and Gabriel Owens. Honorary pallbearers are Stephanie Yocum, Nicole Hurst and Brooke Harris.
