Four Patriot golfers close season in Region 4 Tournament

DANVILLE — Lincoln County sophomore Lawson Hon continued his golf season when he qualified for the 2019 KHSAA State Golf Tournament but, for his four Patriot teammates, the season reached its end in the Region 4 Tournament.
Carson Jenkins, Mason Hamm, Woods Smith and Tanner Ramsey played their final tourney of the season at the Danville Country Club as Lincoln finished region play with a team score of 412. Only the winning team and the top seven individuals not on the winning team moved on to compete at state.
Hon clinched one of the state berths in a playoff, as he led the team with a 79.
Jenkins carded Lincoln’s second best round, finishing the 18-hole tourney with a 102, and Hamm finished five strokes back with a 107. Smith, the lone senior on the team, shot a 124 and Ramsey had a 148.
Taylor County won the Region 4 team title to qualify for the state tourney. The Cardinals had a four-man score of 283. Taylor’s five golfers all finished in the Top 6 in individual scoring led by medalist Mason Hayes who fired the day’s low round of 68. Luke Coyle shot a 69, Rhett Cox shot a 71 and Adam Kehoe and Ethan Anderson both finished with a 75.
Boyle County placed second overall with a 314, Bardstown was third with a 325, Russell County placed fourth with 340 and Anderson County was fifth with 350.
