Lincoln VB breezes past DCA

STANFORD — The Lincoln County High School volleyball team breezed to a 3-0 home win over Danville Christian Academy Monday at J.C. Eddleman Gymnasium.
The Lady Patriots improved to 6-8 with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-9 sweep.
Kasie Mullins and Emery Bertram slammed six kills apiece in the win and Bertram added a dig and an ace. Peyton Griffin, Alyssa Salyers and Kaylynn Smith each had four kills, Sarah Beth Grimes had three, Jada Whited, two, and Kaylie Cotter, one. Griffin also served up four aces and had five assists and Salyers had a block.
Lincoln had 17 aces in the win, with Cotter and Whited also getting four aces and Sarah Beth Grimes getting three and Smith, one. Grimes posted 20 assists for the Lady Pats and had one of Lincoln’s five digs in the match. Cotter had two digs and Smith had one.
DCA fell to 4-8 in the loss.
Lincoln never trailed in the match, opening the first game with a 5-0 run and the second and third games both on a 3-0 run.
The Lady Patriots’ longest scoring streak came in the third game as the team scored 11 straight points off the service of Emery Bertram.
