Admission to Lincoln County High School sporting events has remained constant for over a decade, with $5 charged at the gate for students and adults attending football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball games.
But that may be changing – and soon.
Tonight (Thursday) a proposal to increase the admission fee for regular-season sports to $6 for students (grades 6-12) and adults is on the Lincoln County School Board agenda. If the Board approves the increase, the $1 increase will be reflected immediately.
While the proposal means more out-of-pocket money for many, there will be those that benefit with elementary school-age children and younger admitted free to LCHS regular-season home sporting events.
Lincoln County Athletic Director Tim Estes said the increase is much needed.
“That ($5) has been the price for over 15 years,” he said. “The yearly cost of association fees and officials for football, soccer and volleyball games and cross country home meets is $12,030. Boyle County, Danville and Garrard County have already raised theirs to $6, and our Board now has it on its agenda.”
