Lady Pats crank out 16 hits in Berea win

STANFORD — The Lincoln County softball team celebrated a big win Monday on the LCHS diamond.
When the Lady Patriots traveled to Berea on April 16, the host Lady Pirates edged out a 10-9 win.
Berea would not escape with the win in Monday’s rematch at LCHS as the Lady Patriots cranked out 16 hits in a lopsided 11-3 win.
Hailee Banes led the Lincoln battery, going 3-for-4, with a double and two RBI’s. Six Lady Patriots connected for two hits, with Kaylynn Smith, Anna Lane and Lydia Rice all going 2-for-3 while Peyton Boyd, Maddy Boyle and Sara-Mae Bullock were all 2-for-2. Rice had three RBI’s.
Kaylynn Smith got the start on the mound for Lincoln. She gave up three runs off six hits, with one walk and two strikeouts in four innings up. Lydia Rice came up in the fifth and she allowed three hits. She also had two strikeouts.
Lincoln improved to 7-15 with the Berea win. Berea went to 7-7.
The Lady Patriots followed up Monday’s win with their second 45th District win of the season over Danville.
Lincoln won 8-4 in the first meeting between the two teams, but the Lady Patriots needed just five innings to put away the Lady Admirals in Tuesday’s rematch at Danville, rolling 13-3.
No statistics were available for the Lincoln-Danville game at press time.
The Lady Patriots are back in action Friday, traveling to Liberty for a 6 p.m. game with Casey County.
They will be back on the road Monday, playing at Richmond Model at 6 p.m., then will return home for back-to-back games.
Lincoln will host Rockcastle County on Tuesday and Southwestern on Thursday. Both games are at 6 p.m.
