James Harold Gaylor, 90

James Harold Gaylor, 90, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at his residence. He was the widower of Alma Jean Miracle Gaylor who preceded him in death on June 26, 2018.

Born December 11, 1928, James was a son of the late William and Lucy VanWinkle Gaylor. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a career grave digger who took pride in his workmanship. He was a child of God who faithfully worshiped at Friendship Baptist Church where he was a member. James loved storytelling, horses and especially his personal horse, Ace. He enjoyed watching wrestling, old western movies and traveling and sightseeing. He truly loved the Lord, his family, his fellowman and his country.

Survivors include children, James D. Gaylor, Bill and wife Gina Gaylor, Shella and husband Gary Dean, Roxie and husband Greg Tyler, Ruby and husband Darrell Gentry, Connie and husband Jesse Reynolds; four brothers, Estil and Delmar Abrams, George Phillips and Bill Gaylor; 18 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

Additionally to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert E. Gaylor; his step dad, Walter Abrams; three sisters, Ileen Chaffin, Thelma and Helen Abrams; and five brothers, Elmer, Billy, Thomas, Henry and Stanley Abrams.

Funeral services were Sunday, March 17 at Friendship Baptist Church with Bro. Darrell Gentry officiating. Burial was in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Lance Gentry, Chad Rudd, Trenton and Trevor Reynolds, Justin and Jaylan Alexander. Honorary pallbearers were James and Bill Gaylor.

McKnight Funeral Home, Crab Orchard, was in charge of the arrangements.
