Lincoln girls top Garrard by 31

LANCASTER — The Lincoln County girls improved to 19-3 Thursday night with a 68-37 win over 45th District rival Garrard County.
The Lady Patriots, now 6-0 in the district, jumped out to a 19-4 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led 25-14 at the end of one and took a 43-18 lead into the break. The running clock was invoked midway through the third quarter.
Lincoln shot 48.1 percent from the field overall, going 25-for-52, 3-for-9 from 3-point range. The Lady Patriots were 15-for-19 at the foul line.
Garrard, which fell to 4-22 overall, 0-6 in the district, hit the deep freeze offensively, connecting on just 10 of 57 shot attempts for 17.5 percent shooting. The Lady Lions were 5-for-18 from 3-point range. They were 12-for-19 at the line.
Lincoln coach Cassandra McWhorter used her reserves freely throughout the night, resting her seniors for the weekend Louisville Invitational Tournament.
Ten of the 12 Lady Patriots scored in the win, led by Emma King with 16 points. Zaria Napier, Haleigh Releford and Maddy Boyle each scored eight points.
