Dorothy Carrier Walters, 89, of Stanford, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018.
Born November 21, 1929, Dorothy was a daughter of the late Lucian A. Jenkins and the late Helen Marie Reed Jenkins. She was the widow of James Craig Carrier and Jake Walters. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Waynesburg. She taught Sunday school at Mt. Moriah Christian Church. During her life she had worked as a seamstress at Palm Beach in Danville.
Survivors include one daughter, Jone Allen (Barry) of Stanford; a stepson, Jake Walters, Jr.; one stepdaughter, Nancy Walters; one sister, Joyce Carrier of Highland; one sister-in-law, Alfreda Jenkins of Highland; five grandchildren, Scott Carrier (Gretchen), Misti Davis (John), Steve Walters (Jennifer), Aaron Anderson (Ashley) and Destiny Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one son, Mike Carrier; and three brothers, Kenny Jenkins, Carl Jenkins and Jim Jenkins.
Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 14, 2018 at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. David Conrades officiating the service. Burial followed at Mt. Moriah Christian Church Cemetery in Highland.
Active pallbearers were Aaron Anderson, Scott Carrier, Gatlin Carrier, Sawyer Carrier, Bo Turner and Barry Allen. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Jenkins, Keith Jenkins, Richard Otto and Mike Singleton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Moriah Christian Church Cemetery Fund.
