Patriots run over Southern 77-47

Bryston Alcorn scored a game-high 20 points and Elijah Frye poured in 16 points to lead the Lincoln County boys in a 77-47 win over Madison Southern Saturday night in the Central Bank Classic at Madison Central High School.

Alcorn was 6-for-7 from the field, 3-for-3 from 3-point range and connected on 5 of 7 free throw attempts. Frye finished at 7-for-10 from the field, 2-for-3 from 3. Riley Bodner finished just shy of double figures with nine points, but he was in double digits on the glass, grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds.

Lincoln (3-2) held a 19-14 edge at the end of the first period then doubled-up on Southern (3-3) in the second period, 28-14, to post a 47-28 halftime lead.

The Patriots led by as many as 36 points, posting a 73-27 lead at the end of the third before moving on for the win.

Lincoln shot 57 percent from the field overall, going 28-for-49 from two-point range, 9-for-18 from 3. At the line, the Patriots were 12-for-17.

Southern shot just 30.6 percent overall, going 15-for-49, 7-for-25 from 3-point range. The Eagles were 10-for-13 at the line.

Trent Moberly was the lone Eagle in double figures, finishing with 13 points.

The Patriots cleaned up on the glass, outrebounding the Eagles 40-19. Darius Napier had five rebounds for Lincoln and Bryson Yaden, Blake Smith and Jaxon Smith each had four. Colby Conrad led Southern with six rebounds.
