Mayor Eddie Carter has called a special meeting of the Stanford City Council for today (Thursday), Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library, Community Room 1.

The agenda has two items listed:

* Discussion and 2nd reading of Intent to Annex the area approximately mile south of Stanford along U.S. 27, and including the surrounding properties.

* Proposal and possible 1st reading of ordinance that reflects a proposed tax levy of .135 per $100 of assessed property and .096 per $100 for personal property. This tax rate reflects a 4% increase in anticipated revenue.
