Harrodsburg man killed in motorcycle/truck crash

STANFORD — A Harrodsburg man is dead after a motorcycle/truck crash in Lincoln County.
Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum identified the victim as 49-year-old Robert Ray Shewmaker.
The crash happened on Saturday, July 28, around 11 p.m. on U.S. 27 South. Shewmaker was traveling northbound on U.S. 27 when a southbound pickup truck, driven by Ryan Wright of Waynesburg, turned left in front of him onto Shake Rag Road.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of the collision. According to Deputy Michael Mullins, Shewmaker was airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky with life-threatening injuries. Wright was not injured.
Shewmaker was pronounced dead around 1:25 a.m. Sunday, July 29, at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital. The air flight to UK was rerouted to Fort Logan when Shewmaker’s condition deteriorated. The cause of death was blunt force trauma. According to officials, Shewmaker was not wearing a helmet.
U.S. 27 was shut down for several hours while the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County EMS and Lincoln County Fire Department worked the scene.
