Preparation for the upcoming fall sports season at Lincoln County High School is back in full swing as the KHSAA imposed Dead Period for all sports and sports activities came to an end at 11:59.59 p.m. Sunday.
During the two-week Dead Period, which started at 12:00.01 a.m. on June 25, there was to be no communication between coaches and players, including email, social media, texting, phone and all other forms, no use of school facilities, team uniforms, team or equipment, transportation, coaches, personnel or anything else related to the LCHS athletic program was allowed.
But that’s all behind the athletes and coaches now as practice resumed on all sports programs Monday.
The first scheduled sports event is just a month away, with the LCHS boys soccer team set to open Aug. 13 at South Laurel. The girls soccer team opens the next afternoon, Aug. 14, at Estill County.
The football Patriots kick off their season in the first game of the 2018 PBK Bank/WPBK-FM Death Valley Bowl on Friday, Aug. 17.
The Patriots will play Somerset in the opener and Bourbon County and Clay County will play the second game.
Currently, the Lady Patriot volleyball team’s schedule shows its first match set for Aug. 28 at Rockcastle County. However, the schedule is incomplete so the team could see an earlier start.
No starting dates were available for the Lincoln County cross country teams and the golf teams.
