Paisley Gay wins KRTA county writing contest

Paisley Gay read her winning essay on her grandmother to the Lincoln County Retired Teachers Association members during their recent meeting.

Gay, now a Lincoln sixth-grade student, was named the 2017 county winner of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association essay contest, which is sponsored by AARP. The topic of the contest was “Why my Grandparent should be named Grandparent of the Year.” Gay was a fifth-grade student when named winner of the contest.

Gay, her grandmother and family, as well as her teacher (her mother) were recognized at the local meeting. She was presented with a certificate and cash award and her teacher, Amanda Gay, was given a stipend for her classroom.
