LCHS Tennis: Smith/Towle, Bandura/Story doubles teams net only wins in losses

STANFORD — Return to action following Spring Break did not produce the results the Lincoln County High School tennis teams were looking for, as the visiting Mercer County Lady Titans and Titans walked away with wins Tuesday afternoon.
The final score was the same for both the girls and boys matches, with Mercer sweeping the match 4-1, 4-1.
Savanna Smith and Alyea Towle netted the lone win for the Lady Patriots, defeating Lady Titans Ania Boudin and Kristen Bryant 8-6 at the one seed in doubles.
Lincoln duo Raelyn Amon and Kaitlynn Wilks came oh-so-close to victory in their match with Mercer’s Avery Thompson and Reagen Long, battling them to an 8-8 tie only to fall 10-7 in a tiebreak at two. Emily Byrd picked up multiple games in her match with Mercer’s Carmen Murray before falling 8-4 at the three seed in singles.
For the Patriots, it was Kade Bandura and Carter Story courting victory. Lincoln’ top-seeded doubles team beat Mercer’s Bryson Marcum and Camden Mosley 8-5 at one.
The Patriots did not go down easily in the match loss, with the local netters picking up a total of 20 games in the match.
In singles play, Lee Amon and Colin Green each won three games in their matches. Amon was topped 8-3 by Marcum at one and Green lost 6-3 to Mosley at two. In doubles, William Hawkins and Gavin Fowler were a strong threat in their match at three only to have Ryan Allen and Nicholas Walden outlast them 8-6.
