Lady Pat 3200, 800 relay teams take first in PCI Track Classic

SOMERSET — The Lincoln County High School girls and boys track and field teams made their presence known in Friday’s Randy Elmore PCI Track Classic at Pulaski County High School, with the Lady Patriots winning two races and the teams combining for 10 Top 5 finishes in the large meet.

Lady Patriot freshmen Lucy Singleton and McKenzie Settles and eighth-graders Constance Johnson and Ava Morgan finished at the head of the pack in the 3200-meter relay, coming in eight seconds ahead of the runner-up team. The Lincoln quartet crossed in a time of 10:33.79. Host Pulaski County came across in second place in 10:41.04.

Singleton teamed up with seniors Tate Newcomb and Courtney Snow and eighth-grader Maddy Slone to capture first in the 800-meter relay. Lincoln edged out Williamsburg at the finish for the win, covering the distance in 1:55.73 while Williamsburg posted a time of 1:58.06.

Those wins accounted for just two of Lincoln’s 10 Top 5 finishes. The Lady Patriots added five other finishes of fifth or better and the Patriots had three total.
