A winter weather storm that has closed Lincoln County Schools for multiple days threw a wrench in the local winter sports schedule as well.
At this point of the season, the Lincoln County High School varsity basketball teams should each already have three 45th District games under their belt – they’ve played only one district doubleheader.
The LCHS Lady Patriot and Patriot basketball teams were scheduled to play a pair of district games this past Friday, Jan. 12, but the doubleheader at Boyle County was canceled as a result of the snow and ice that fell on the area and statewide that evening.
The Lincoln-Boyle doubleheader has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6 and 7:30 p.m.
The Lincoln teams were set to travel to Garrard County Tuesday night, Jan.16, for a district doubleheader with the Lady Lions and Lions. However, several inches of snowfall Monday evening and into the afternoon on Tuesday resulted in another postponement.
Tuesday’s Lincoln-Garrard games were originally rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 17, but the continuous snowfall and sub-freezing temperatures forced those games to be postponed again.
The Lady Patriots will make up their game at Garrard on Tuesday, Jan. 23. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Patriots are set to make up their game at Garrard the following night, Wednesday, Jan. 24, also at 7:30 p.m.
