Lady Pats fall from ranks of unbeatens

The Lincoln County girls basketball team fell from the ranks of Kentucky’s unbeaten teams during its stint in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic High School, going 2-2 in the pre-Christmas tourney.

The Lady Patriots opened the tourney with a “W” by besting Russell 53-47, but two days later Murray handed them their first loss.

Murray, a team Lincoln will meet again Friday night in the Murray Bank Lady Tigers Classic, defeated the Lady Patriots 65-51.

Zaria Napier and Katilynn Wilks led Lincoln with 13 points apiece. Wilks led the team in rebounds with 15 boards and Napier and Emma King each had five. King and Maddy Boyle would also score in double figures, with Boyle getting 11 points and King, 10. Trinity Shearer rounded out Lincoln’s scoring with four points.

Lincoln (8-2) shot 37 percent from the field in the loss, going 22-for-59 overall, 3-for-19 from 3-point range. The Lady Patriots were just 3-for-4 at the foul line.

No game stats were available for Murray (9-2).

Lincoln would get back in the win column in Game 3 of the Traditional Bank tourney, easily defeating South Laurel 75-51.

No game stats were available for either Lincoln or South Laurel (7-3).

Wilks paced Lincoln with a game-high 31 points and 14 rebounds against Ryle Saturday evening, but it wouldn’t be enough to carry the Lady Pats to the win as the Lady Raiders edged out a 79-77 victory. 

King followed Wilks with 16 points and five rebounds. Boyle contributed 14 points in the loss and Shearer had 11 points. Anna Lane added five points.
Lincoln shot 54 percent from the field, going 31-for-57, 7-for-16 from 3. At the line, the Lady Pats were 8-for-11.
