Dear Editor, 

I am glad that our Stanford community has a great police officer by the name of Ryan Kirkpatrick. 

There are two points to be made: firstly, Stanford Police Officer Ryan Kirkpatrick is only part-time. This a sad statement based on his background and the need within this community. It is sad that the Mayor and the support of the City Council is not there to make Officer Kirkpatrick full-time; secondly, much of the investigation that was conducted that led to the arrest (of five Lincoln County students) was also done on his days off. 

That is right, no pay. 

Thank you Officer Ryan Kirkpatrick for going above and beyond the call of duty. Hopefully a community will find you a home since ours has not.
